Hey everyone, this is Dane Bergen creator of the Rich photographer coaching series designed to get better results for photography business owners and today what I want to talk about is your Google business listing and why it’s really important for your business and some small tweaks you can make that might surprise you that have been getting really good results for photographers for a couple of years now.
Now your Google listing is basically just your business listing in Google it’s not your websites search ranking, but it’s called Google places for business and you can go on there and create your own business account and set everything up how you want, but the real benefit of these Google listings is your rankings in Google not for your website but for your actual Google listing.
Now there’s debate about how they use this for your rankings, but if you type something in like “Thai food restaurant” and you live in New York it will bring up a series of these Google listings of restaurants that have a lot of reviews or lot of good reviews and that’s great for people to be able to make a better decision on where they’re going to eat that night but it can also be transferred over to being extremely useful in your photography business too.
Number one because it helps to create a trust and credibility because if you can get a certain number of good reviews then people are more likely to trust you and think that you’re more credible and
Number two, the real benefit is that not many photographers all small business owners are using or are properly tapping into the power of these Google listings just yet.
So what you want to do is you don’t want to just sent you a Google listing and leave it at that you want to be getting reviews on there, 5 star reviews (as many as you can) in a natural looking way – you don’t want to get 50 in one day and then none after that, but because other photographers aren’t doing this it’s easy to go to your past customers and say
“Hey, I’d love a Google review, just go here and leave me one”
or even just you know family and friends if they could help you out and leave Google reviews it can get you more search engine traffic it can increase your credibility online and it really has been working wonders for a lot of photographers, and I urge you to go and set one up today and give it a try for yourself.
