You’re probably wondering what this ‘holy grail’ of client getting strategies is, but it’s not really a ‘way’… but rather a tweaked way of running your business.
Creating a Client Following
Many photographers believe that the absolute best way to get a tonne of clients begging to pay you money for photos, is to get super good at photography…
They think you need an amazing camera, the best lenses, and years of experience, to give you the ability to produce amazing quality photos that make clients jaws drop, and their wallets fly open.
And while it’s true that being a great photographer can only help your business success… it’s not the best way to get new photography clients!…
The ultimate way is to give all your clients a level of service that is totally unexpected, and turn your clients into loyal followers who refer you to all their friends and family, as well as hire you over an over again!
Fine-art photographers will be able to relate to this the most. Occasionally there’s that one buyer who becomes a raving fan and needs to buy as much of your work as possible. It’s like a reward sent from the heavens! This person raves about your work to friends and is constantly looking for a new piece to buy!
This can be the same with the clients from any type of photography business… from wedding photography, to family portraits, even pet photography!
You create this “raving fan” status in your clients by providing far superior pre, and post shoot service…
This includes things like:
- A phone call before the shoot to check that they know what to bring and what to wear
- A thank you letter after the shoot (hand written if possible, and even hand delivered helps because it’s much more personal)
- A phone call after the shoot to keep the client up to date about what you’re doing with the editing, and if they have any special requests
- Genuine concern about any injuries that may prevent some posing
- A special gift just for them after their shoot. If you know a hobby they have it really helps to get something related to that.
- As well as meeting all deadlines and having an extremely friendly, yet professional persona
These are just a few things you can do to make sure all your clients have a far better experience than they’d expected.
You’ll obviously deliver great quality photos along with all this!
These are things that you won’t find other photographers doing, and they don’t even take much time. A quick courtousy call takes about 3 minutes. Getting a gift takes a few minutes while you’re doing your shopping… yet these things will make your clients say “WOW!”, because such service is extinct and unexpected…
They’ll become your loyal fans and your best source of free advertising. They’ll show their photos to everyone and tell people about the photographer who hand wrote them a special thank you letter! They’ll even tell the story of the special gift you got for them!
So, now you know the best way to get new photography clients and it’s totally free! I’m sorry if you were expecting some sort of secret advertising technique, but this is even more rare than all that stuff an it’ll give you better results!
